Natalie is a Ph.D student and NSF Graduate Research Fellow. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on creating equitable systems of resilience which recognize social risk disparities during times of crises. She has participated in multiple undergraduate research experiences and has acted as a student representative for the Undergraduate Research Ambassadors and Academy of Undergraduate Researchers Across Texas. Besides research, Natalie enjoys participating in science-outreach events, being involved in book clubs, and is a Terry Scholar.
Chiafu is currently a PhD student in Zachry Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University, advised by Prof. Ali Mostafavi. He joined the Urban Resilience.AI Lab in Fall 2021 and works as a graduate research assistant. Previously, Chiafu completed his M.S. in Industrial Engineering at National Taiwan University (NTU), and B.S. in Industrial Management at National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST). Broadly, Chiafu is interested in mathematically modeling of real-world problems and data analytics. Notably, his research focus on exploring urban mobility network and building resilience for disaster risk management. In his downtime, Chiafu enjoys going to the church’s meeting, jogging and cooking.
Bo is a Ph.D. student in civil engineering at Texas A&M University. She joined the lab in Fall 2021 as a research assistant. Bo received her bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering & Management from Southeast University and master’s degree in Management Science & Engineering from Tianjin University. Her research interests lie in data science and infrastructure resilience. She hopes to serve decision makers and residents and be a part of creating a better, safer world by her research. In her spare time, Bo enjoys playing badminton and reading.
Akhil started his Ph.D. in Fall 2020. Prior to his Ph.D., He was an undergraduate student in the Urban Resilience Lab in Summer 2019. He earned his B.S. in civil engineering with honors at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar. His research interests lies at the intersection of urban resilience, complex networks, and data science. In his leisure time, he likes to solve the Rubik's cube (2×2, 3×3, 4×4) and play chess.
Chenyue is Data Science Researcher in the lab and also a PhD student majoring in Agriculture economics. She received her master’s degree in Quantitative Economics from Texas A&M University and bachelor’s degree in Statistics at Capital University of Economics and Business in China. She hopes to use statistics models in the real world to find some interesting things. Her research interests are about data science and machine learning .Chenyue is good at badminton. She won first place in women’s doubles and mixed doubles at Texas A&M University.
Flavia is a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering at the Texas A&M University. She joined the Urban Resilience.AI lab in Summer 2021 as a research assistant. Flavia earned her master’s degree in Risk Mitigation at Polytechnic of Milan and her bachelor’s degree at the Technical University of Civil Engineering of Bucharest. She has several years’ experience in various Disaster Risk Reduction settings in Italy and the UK. Her most recent professional experience as a consultant at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission provided her the technical knowledge of handling Big Data to enhance Resilience. Flavia's research quest is to apply Responsible AI techniques to enhance Urban Resilience. She is committed to having a positive impact on society through her work. In her spare time, Flavia enjoys playing volleyball, learning about different cultures, and traveling.
Chiawei is a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. He joined the Urban Resilience.AI Lab in Fall 2020 as a Ph.D. student and research assistant. Chiawei holds his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Master's degree in Transportation Engineering from National Taiwan University. Before joining Texas A&M, he worked as a research assistant for a year on a nuclear powerplant evacuation project. His research interests lie in urban network resilience, traveler behavior and the intersection of the two. While not doing research, he enjoys swimming, playing basketball and watching movies.
Junwei is a Ph.D. student in Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. He joined the Urban Resilience.AI Lab in Fall 2021 as a research assistant. Junwei earned his master’s degree and bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering and Management from Southeast University in China. Junwei’s most recent research quest is to apply artificial intelligence methodologies to address city and community resilience problems and be committed to creating a smarter and more equitable society. In his spare time, Junwei enjoys playing football and travelling.
Yu-Hsuan is a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Master's degree in Transportation Engineering from National Taiwan University. Her research experience computer vision and urban data science. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies and visiting film festivals.
Kai is a Ph.D. student in Civil Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. He obtained his MS degree from Beijing Jiaotong University. He joined the Urban Resilience.AI Lab in Summer 2022 as a graduate research assistant. Kai’s research experience covers urban resilience, data science, intelligent connected vehicle and traffic signal control. His recent research is to apply data-driven based method to study urban transportation system resilience and is committed to creating a more resilient transportation system under disasters. In his free time, Kai enjoys traveling and watching movies.
Xiangpeng is a MS-Ph.D. student in UrbanResilience.AI Lab in Zachry Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Texas A&M University. She received her bachelor’s degree at the University of California, Davis, majoring in civil engineering, and her master’s degree at Northeastern University majoring in Engineering Management. She likes to research urban resilience, and combine data science with engineering to build a more resilient community. In her free time, she enjoys exploring delicious food and traveling.
Lipai is a Master student majoring in Electrical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He joined the UrbanResilience.ai Lab as a Data Science Researcher in Spring 2022. Lipai completed his Bachelor degree in Telecommunication Engineering at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China. His research interests contain machine learning, deep learning, data analysis and visualization. In his free time, he enjoys watching Warriors games and playing Switch.
Miguel is a Ph.D. student in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence track of Civil Engineering Department at TAMU. He was a structural engineer at Arup before returning the Urban Resilience.AI Lab for his Ph.D. As a Masters and Undergraduate student at Texas A&M, he worked for the Urban Resilience.AI Lab where his research focused on the societal impacts of infrastructure disruption due to disasters. Now he aims to elevate his past research by using data science techniques to converge different datasets to improve the resiliency of the built environment and communities from disaster induced disruptions.
